The content of this site is under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. It is the most permissive open licence in the Creative Commons family: it allows copying, modification, distribution and commercial use, on one condition, that you credit where it comes from.
What you may do without asking us
- Project the situations in a course, a classroom, a team meeting, a youth centre.
- Print and photocopy the summary cards, in quantity, including for commercial use.
- Reuse the texts in a booklet, a course pack, an article, a translation.
- Reuse the open JSON data to build something else with it.
- Modify, correct, adapt for another audience, republish under the same name or another one.
The one obligation: credit
Give the title, the association, the site address and the licence. For example: “Before Help Arrives (Avant les secours), ODERSA, avantlessecours.odersa.org, CC BY 4.0”. If you have modified the content, say so: it is the rule of the licence and it is also a matter of honesty towards your readers.
A reuse funded by a third party stays open: that is why we publish under an open licence. Funding that produces a common good can be picked up by any organisation, without asking our permission.
What this licence does not cover
- The name and the logo of the association, and the wordmark of this project: they identify an organisation, they are not reusable content. Do not use them in a way that would suggest we have endorsed your version.
- The photographs, which carry their own licence and their own author: the detail is on the Credits page.
- The public guidelines quoted: the passages reproduced on this site appear as quotations, with their source and their address. They belong to their publishers.
- The emblem of the Red Cross, which is protected by the Geneva Conventions and appears nowhere on this site. Our mark is a chevron, and that is one of the reasons why.
